The header reads like a copperplate visiting card — a register that signals heritage, ceremony and trust without saying so. How to use it
The Trajan header stays sober: name alone, optional title, no address — the latter moves to the foot of the letter. The recipient block aligns right, in the British convention. The Caslon body stays justified, paragraphs separated by a first-line indent. For a law-firm application, state the speciality (M&A, Litigation, Tax, Banking & Finance, White Collar), significant matters without naming clients covered by privilege, and bar admissions (NY Bar, England & Wales Solicitor, California Bar, ABA membership). A handwritten signature in blue ink, scanned at 600 dpi, is expected.

Is Trajan suitable for digital reading?
For the header only and at large size (24-32 pt). Trajan does not work for body text: it lacks lowercase and loses legibility below 14 pt. The template pairs Trajan in the header with Caslon in the body — the combination works on screen and in print.
What paper for premium printing?
Vellum 120 gsm cream or off-white for the paper application. Offset printing in two passes (header with simulated engraving, body standard) remains ideal for heritage-institution recipients. For digital submissions, a CMYK PDF with embedded fonts suffices.
Is it suitable for a notary or trust-officer application?
Yes for established practices (London Notary, New York State notarial offices, Geneva-based fiduciaries). For entry-level notarial exams or trust-officer training programmes, use letter-classic-formal which better matches the institutional application dossier register.
