About this template

The Monogram template is a senior letter built around a single oversized monogrammed initial, centred in Trajan, Garamond body, ink black on warm cream. The monogram carries the entire identity — no other ornament, no second colour. Compatible with the ATS systems of bespoke advisory boutiques and eponymous founder firms (Workday at Robey Warshaw, Centerview Partners, Messier & Associés, PJT Partners; Greenhouse at independent founder-led M&A boutiques).

Who is it for?

It suits senior executives applying to bespoke advisory boutiques, single-family offices, eponymous founder firms and personal-brand mandates. Founders, name-partners, solo practitioners, named advisers and personal-brand executives who want their initials to carry the message. Out of place in large corporates where a personal monogram would read as presumptuous, and in mid-level applications without established personal-brand capital.

How to use it

The monogram uses the single first-name initial or the linked first-name-last-name ligature — never three initials (which read as royal family). Choose a Trajan or Bodoni 72 drawing without excessive serif weight. The hook enters the subject directly, without a long opening formula: "I propose the senior-adviser mandate for...". The Garamond justified body leaves the monogram carrying full weight — resist any urge to add a cartouche, border or underline. The closing signature echoes the monogram initial, in black ink.

Frequently asked questions

Two or three monogrammed initials?

Two maximum — first-name and last-name linked in ligature. Three initials evoke family crests and tip the register into dynastic code, which doesn't fit a solo adviser or boutique founder. A single initial works for very established name-partners.

Is the letter suitable for a board-adviser mission?

Yes for paid independent-director mandates, lead independent director seats and audit-committee chairmanships. The monogram signals that the application comes from an already established personal-brand adviser — useful for boards that source by recommendation.

Do I need a personal website that matches the monogram?

Yes — the letter only works if your personal brand exists elsewhere (website, fully completed LinkedIn profile, signed publications). Without that external anchor, the monogram reads as pretension. List the personal URL in the signature block, never in the body.
