About this template
The Presidential template is a senior letter shaped like presidential letterhead: embossed-seal monogram centred at the top, Caslon body, navy and ivory only, each paragraph indented in old-style. Reads as State correspondence rather than corporate. Compatible with the HR and document-management systems used at heads-of-state cabinets, central banks and diplomatic missions (SAP HR at 10 Downing Street, HR-Access at the European Central Bank, Oracle PeopleSoft at the World Bank).
Who is it for?
It suits senior executives applying to heads-of-state cabinets, presidential-foundation boards (Carter Center, Clinton Foundation, Obama Foundation), federal-agency directorships, central-bank governance (Federal Reserve, Bank of England, ECB, Bank of Japan) and ambassador-rank diplomatic missions. Cabinet members, central-bank candidates, senior diplomats and foundation presidents. Out of place in commercial, tech or any register below ambassador rank.
How to use it
The embossed seal is rendered in PDF relief with drop-shadow — never replace it with a logo. The hook opens with a full courtesy formula ("Mr President", "Madam Governor") and specifies the protocol rank. Paragraph indent (1 cm) is old-style, never block. Mention your civil-service grade number (SES, GS-15, Senior Civil Servant grade SCS-2) in the signature block. A handwritten signature in navy ink, scanned at 600 dpi, stays sober — no stylised paraph.
Frequently asked questions
Is it suitable for a central-bank application?
Yes for the Federal Reserve, Bank of England, ECB Frankfurt, Bank of Japan, Swiss National Bank — which appreciate the presidential register for senior-adviser, deputy-governor and chief-economist roles. Mention your research publications in paragraph 2.
Should I list my civil-service grade?
Yes in the signature block: "SES Tier 4 since 2018", "GS-15 step 10", "SCS-2 grade UK", "Career Minister rank US". These grades are systematically verified by chiefs of staff before granting an interview — prefer accuracy over any approximation.
Is the letter suitable for a UN posting?
Yes for D1-D2 roles (senior director), Special Adviser positions and Special Adviser to the Secretary-General appointments. For more operational P3-P4 grade roles, choose letter-exec-meridian. Attach the official English translation by a UN-approved translator for official applications.
