About this template
The Vinyl Cover template borrows the layout of an LP: concentric ring background, Anton display, 33⅓ RPM markers, generous space for the « cover artwork » (the name and the job title). The CV reads as a record filed in a crate — visible at first glance, encoded in the language of an industry where the sleeve has been part of the work since Reid Miles (Blue Note 1955), Peter Saville (Factory Records), Vaughan Oliver (4AD) through The Designers Republic and Non-Format. It is not an ATS-safe CV: it is built for an A&R, a label manager, a music supervisor or a festival director who opens this PDF while waiting on a Bandcamp demo.
Who is it for?
For music producers, sound and mix engineers, DJs, A&Rs, label managers, music supervisors (music placement for advertising, film and TV), and music-industry creatives applying to independent labels (Warp Records, Domino Recording Co., XL Recordings, Sub Pop, Matador Records, Drag City, as well as the European labels Because Music FR, Kitsuné, Ed Banger, Roche Musique, Subterfuge ES, La Tempesta IT, Morr Music DE, City Slang DE, K7! Berlin, Tigersushi Belgium and Mbari PT). Suited to applications at music agencies (Caroline International, AWAL, Believe), festivals (Pitchfork Music Festival, Primavera Sound, Sónar Barcelona, Le Guess Who? Utrecht, Berlin Atonal, FORM Arcosanti) and music media (The Wire UK, The Quietus, Pitchfork, Resident Advisor). Fits alumni of LIPA Liverpool, Berklee College of Music, Goldsmiths Music Computing, ICART musique Paris, and self-taught profiles built through indie collectives.
How to use it
Place the Bandcamp, pro SoundCloud, Mixcloud and Discogs links in the header — Discogs in particular is read by serious A&Rs to verify the claimed catalogue. In the Discography / Projects section, list 6-8 marquee releases with the label, the exact title (artist – title), the format (LP, EP, single, compilation), the role (producer, mix, master, A&R, executive producer) and the year. Mention key distributors (Honest Jon's, Boomkat, Bleep, Rough Trade, Hard Wax Berlin) for indie releases. For sync placements (advertising, film, TV), create a dedicated section with the placed track, the end client and the year. Portfolio coherence is expected: a Bandcamp or pro SoundCloud showing the full catalogue, not a decontextualised Spotify for Artists page. Long-tail: « indie label music producer CV », « music supervisor sync placement CV », « A&R independent label CV », « Warp Domino label manager CV », « DJ tour manager festival CV ».
Frequently asked questions
Should I cite catalogue numbers (WARP123, DNO456) for each release?
Yes — A&Rs and label managers expect it. Catalogue numbers (Warp WARP, Domino DNO, XL XL, Sub Pop SP, Matador OLE) enable immediate verification on Discogs and signal a candidate who speaks the industry's language. For very recent releases not yet on Discogs, state the planned release date (« release scheduled Q3 2026, distribution via The Orchard »). For confidential releases (whitelabel, DJ tools), keep to the label and the format without a number.
How do I present remix or production work for other artists?
Create a « Productions for others » section, distinct from « Personal discography ». For each production, list the artist, the track title, the release label, your exact role (producer, co-producer, additional production, mix engineer, master engineer) and the year. For official remixes, state the original artist, the original track title, the commissioning label and the release (EP, compilation, digital). A&Rs read this section attentively to calibrate your sonic signature and your address book.
Does the template suit applications in music publishing (sheet music, copyright management)?
Partly. For profiles in traditional music publishing (Universal Music Publishing, Sony/ATV Music Publishing, BMG, Warner Chappell, Kobalt), the template stays legible but the LP-sleeve visual code will be read as « rather indie ». For specialised indie publishers (Domino Publishing, Beggars Music Publishing, Mute Song, Premier Music Group), the template works very well. For legal copyright-management departments (PRS for Music, MCPS, ASCAP, BMI), prefer a more institutional CV like ATS Federal.
