About this template

The Canada English Graduate template is a junior Canadian CV in Source Sans Pro with a softened maple accent. Education comes first, followed by co-op internships, internships, capstone projects and student leadership — the structure Canadian recruiters expect from new graduates who don't yet have full-time experience to lead with. The softer palette reflects the junior character while staying professional.

Who is it for?

It fits final-year bachelor and master students at Canadian universities — Waterloo, McGill, UofT, UBC, Queen's, McMaster, Western, Ivey, Rotman, Schulich — applying to first full-time roles, return offers, new graduate programs and rotational schemes at Canadian banks (RBC Capital Markets, BMO Capital Markets, Scotiabank GBM), tech companies (Shopify, Lightspeed, Microsoft Canada) and consulting firms (McKinsey Toronto, BCG, Bain, MNP). Designed for a market where co-op and capstone projects count as much as a 4.0 GPA.

How to use it

The Education section opens the document, with GPA if above 3.5/4.0, honours (Dean's List, magna cum laude) and relevant coursework. The Co-op and Internships section treats each placement as a full-time mission: quantified bullets, scope, deliverables. Capstone Projects get a dedicated section with GitHub or portfolio link. Mention competitions and clubs (Investment Banking Club, Engineering Society) — extracurricular leadership weighted positively by junior recruiters.

Frequently asked questions

How to indicate non-Canadian GPA?

Convert it to the Canadian 4.0 scale and indicate the conversion: « GPA: 16.2/20 (equivalent ~3.7/4.0 on Canadian scale) ». Canadian recruiters don't calculate the conversion themselves, and a 14/20 European GPA can be misread as average when it actually corresponds to a solid 3.3-3.5.

How to position French Grandes Écoles preparatory classes?

Indicate the type of test and the ranking: « Concours d'entrée HEC Paris — admitted out of 5,400 candidates (top 8%) ». Canadian recruiters recognise the selective nature of French Grandes Écoles (HEC, Polytechnique, Sciences Po, Centrale) but not the prépa system — briefly explain in an education footnote.

Do I need PR status to apply from abroad?

No for Mobilité Francophone (PMI), International Experience Canada (IEC), Postes Recherchés programs. Many Canadian employers (Big Five banks, Tech, consulting) sponsor new graduates themselves via LMIA. Indicate « Eligible for Mobilité Francophone work permit » in the header.
