About this template
The Germany Modern template is a contemporary German Lebenslauf in Inter, two-column tabular layout keeping the date / position pair on the right while the left groups photo, contact block and Sprachen bar. Schwarz-rot accent on section titles. Suits tech profiles who remain attached to DACH conventions.
Who is it for?
It fits German tech, startup, product and digital candidates in Berlin, Munich and Hamburg (Zalando, N26, Delivery Hero, Personio, Celonis, HelloFresh) who keep the photo and date / position tabular grid required by DACH recruiters but want a contemporary rendering close to international tech CVs. Software engineers, product managers, growth leads and UX who frequently move between a Berlin scale-up and a Munich corporate.
How to use it
The sidebar holds at the top the photo (passport format 3.5 × 4.5 cm), contact block, visa status (« EU citizen / Blue Card holder / Aufenthaltstitel ») and languages in CEFR. The main column carries experience in tabular grid: date on the left, title and description on the right. Reverse chronology. For a Senior Software Engineer Berlin, list the stack (languages, frameworks, cloud) in tags in the sidebar. For a Product Manager scale-up, mention product frameworks and tools in the sidebar.
Frequently asked questions
Does the sidebar pass German ATS?
Yes for modern ATS (Lever, Greenhouse, Personio modern version) that equip nearly all German scale-ups (N26, Personio, Celonis). For German subsidiaries of traditional groups (Volkswagen, Siemens HR centralised on SAP SuccessFactors), the parsing disorder risk exists — for these targets, Germany standard remains safer.
Should I keep the photo in a Berlin tech scale-up?
Practices divide: N26, Personio and Delivery Hero accept indifferently with or without photo. German subsidiaries of US groups (Salesforce Munich, Microsoft Munich) often ask candidates to remove the photo. Pragmatic rule: photo if you apply to a native German company (Mittelstand, Berlin scale-up), no photo if you apply to a US subsidiary.
Suitable for a senior tech role?
Yes up to Engineering Manager / Director of Product level. For a VP Engineering or CTO at a DAX-listed company (SAP, Infineon), switch to Germany Executive which signals seniority better through serif typography and executive structure. For a VP scale-up, Germany Modern remains relevant.
