For listed Dutch AEX (Shell, Unilever, ING, Philips) and family holdings (SHV, Pon), yes — the language of governance remains predominantly Dutch. For Dutch subsidiaries of Anglo-Saxon groups (Booking.com owned by Booking Holdings, Just Eat Takeaway), English is enough at Raad van Bestuur level.
Difference between Raad van Bestuur and Raad van Commissarissen?
The Dutch system is two-tier, similar to the German model. Raad van Bestuur (RvB) = Executive Board, equivalent to German Vorstand. Raad van Commissarissen (RvC) = Supervisory Board, equivalent to German Aufsichtsrat. Specify the mandate type in the CV for international recruiters who may confuse the two.
How to position non-Dutch experience in a Dutch executive CV?
Specify the structure (one-tier monistic Board vs two-tier dualistic Supervisory Board): « Member of the Board of Directors — one-tier model, function combining supervision and strategic management participation ». Mention the nature of the listing (FTSE 100, FTSE 250, S&P 500, NYSE-listed) to situate the size.
