About this template

The Board Room template is an executive CV designed for leaders interviewed by their peers: directors, board members, committee chairs and CEOs. Its Cormorant serif typography, marble-dark header band and thin gold rule signal board-level restraint. The format is calibrated for screen reading by nomination committees — not for ATS scanning on a generalist job board. It carries naturally into the proprietary platforms used by Russell Reynolds, Heidrick & Struggles and Spencer Stuart.

Who is it for?

It suits CEOs, managing directors and ExCo members of mid-cap and large groups (S&P 500, FTSE 100, EuroStoxx 50), independent directors (NEDs, lead independent directors), managing partners of mission-driven companies, CEOs of state-owned enterprises (Network Rail, EDF, Crown corporations) and chief executives of mutual and pension institutions. Inappropriate for first-job applications, junior operational roles or visual disciplines (design, creative communications).

How to use it

Keep the document to 2 strict pages. Three blocks structure the content: Current and past mandates (with capital, revenue, headcount), Strategic highlights (transformations led, M&A, IPO or take-private), Governance commitments (NED mandates, foundation chair roles, contributions to ICGN, NACD, IoD). Mention the executive-search firm shepherding your file (Heidrick, Spencer Stuart, Korn Ferry, Egon Zehnder) only if the application goes through them. SEO long-tail: 'CEO CV mid-cap', 'NED CV template', 'board member CV', 'managing director CV listed company', 'C-suite executive resume'.

Frequently asked questions

Should I include the share capital and revenue of companies led?

Yes — nomination committees and executive-search firms expect it. List the share capital, consolidated revenue from the latest financial year, headcount (group and home country), and listing status (NYSE, LSE Premium, EuroStoxx). For unlisted companies, mention the majority ownership (LBO, family office, founder-led) — it tells the committee what governance frame you are accustomed to.

How should I describe a strategic transformation led?

Use a Strategic highlights section with 4-6 entries built on the triplet context / actions / measured outcome (ROIC, revenue, EBITDA, deleveraging). For a divestiture or acquisition, mention the exit or entry multiple (EV/EBITDA), the financial advisor and the deal horizon. Stay factual and reproducible: experienced NEDs immediately spot a marketing formula disconnected from operational reality.

Does the template work for a Heidrick or Spencer Stuart application?

Yes. Top-tier executive-search firms expect a 2-page CV, no photo, sober serif, with a clean chronological spine and verifiable numbers. The template's marble-dark header signals seniority without slipping into slide-deck aesthetics. Avoid any personal slogan in the header: at this seniority, silence carries more weight than declaration, and self-celebration disqualifies.
